123 Power System Postcard Update

June 17th, 2009 · No Comments

For those who are following my saga, I am on Step 3 of the 123 Power System: Direct mail marketing using postcards. I used a resource available to our team which basically allowed me to click the mouse a few times, and send postcards out to a list of 2000 business opportunity enthusiasts just like that.

They went out on June 1st, and the responses started coming in as soon as the postcards were delivered. Here is how this part of the 123 Power System works: the customer receives the postcard, and either goes to the website or calls my 800 number. They hear a 1 minute overview, that then gives them a call to action: leave your name and mailing address and you will be shipped a FREE report explaining exactly how this 123 Power System works!

When the customer leaves the voice message, I immediately get an email with the audio file attached. I listen to the VM, take down the customer’s contact info in an excel spreadsheet, then copy and paste it onto a word document that prints out on an envelope.

Then I print out and sign a cover letter, attach it to the special report, which I then fold and place neatly into the envelope along with my business card. I take these to the post office in batches–the postal employees know me by name now! And off they go!

This part of the 123 Power System DOES require some work–listening to the voice mails, printing out the envelopes and mailing the special reports. Especially when you have the enormous amount of responses that I have (we are at like 120 or so!)

But it is easy work that anyone can do–no special marketing skills needed here, you just have to not be completely lazy. Check the voice mails from the 800 number by having your email box open, listen to ‘em and get the information down quickly, and ship the reports in a timely fashion.

Also, the 123 Power System recommends sending out a followup letter 14 days after the customer receives the special report–and for the first wave of customers, that was yesterday! With some help from my wife, I sent out about 39 followup letters yesterday–this dramatically increases the conversion of prospects to sales, because you are following up with them after they have had a chance to look at, digest and think about the special report.

We’ll see how well it goes. The followup letter does include the order form, so hopefully a good % of those prospects will fill it out and send it back with payment.

Speaking of payment, we’ve talked a lot about the details of how Step 3 of the 1-2-3 Power System works–but how much in sales have I actually made so far?

Well, so far we’ve only had $1800 come in–note quite 9 sales, considering that two of them were sales of the upgraded website package. Still, considering the postcard campaign was ‘turnkey’ and only cost me $1147, that is not a bad return!! Two of these 123 Power System sales in particular stood out, because I had never communicated with or spoken to the customer, or even knew they existed…they just went to the website from the postcard and bought!

That’s REALLY cool, and it’s also really cool when the order forms with checks arrive in the mail from people who you only know about because they left a voice message on your 800 number.

Finally, the real kicker here is that most of the profits from the postcard campaign are supposed to come in AFTER the 14-day followup letter is sent. So it sounds like the profit I’ve made so far is just the beginning!

I can see why the holy grail of the 123 Power System–and other offline marketing systems–is to consistently send out postcards each week to a new list.

Stay tuned for more!
